IAS couple, Tina Dabi & Athar Khan to separate, files for divorce

Jaipur: The much talked about inter-faith wedding of two IAS officers, Tina Dabi and Athar Khan is on the verge of breaking up as both of them have filed for divorce with mutual consent in a family court in Jaipur.

The two Rajasthan cadre IAS officers met at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie. Tina topped the Union Public Service Commission examination (2015 batch), while her husband, Athar came second.

Their wedding grabbed a lot of attention for a lot many reasons. It was an inter-religion marriage, which got a lot of support from the people. Many called their marriage a symbol of communal harmony. On their wedding, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted to congratulate the couple.

He wrote, "May your love grow from strength to strength and may you be an inspiration to all Indians in this age of growing intolerance and communal hatred. God bless you."

Many including Venkaiah Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Sumitra Mahajan attended their wedding in 2018 in Delhi. They had three wedding receptions in three different places – Jaipur, Pahalgam and Delhi.

Tina is an alumnus of the Political Science department of Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi. She is the first Dalit woman to top the UPSC exams. Athar, on the other hand, is a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

In the beginning, both of them were posted in the same city. However, they were later transferred to different cities. Tina was posted to Sri Ganganagar as Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad. Athar was posted to Jaipur as the CEO of Zila Parishad.
