NEW DELHI: Heavy rainfall is expected in many Indian states in the next coming days as projected by IMD (Indian Meteorological Department).

In view of this department has issued an orange alert which means to get prepared for severe circumstances and a yellow alert that means 'severely bad weather.'

The IMD weather forecast in Northeast states scattered to widespread rainfall predicted from 11 January to 13 January in Arunachal Pradesh and on 12 January and 13 January, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Assam and Mizoram.

RK Jenamani, a senior scientist with IMD while talking with media informed that a western disturbance is expected to hit the eastern region of India from Tuesday 11 January 2022. He further stated that this disturbance may continue and result in heavy rainfall that would occur in eastern and central regions of the country.

IMD also shared the update regarding the rainfall situation in the National capital Delhi which has been witnessing showers over the last few days as per the weather prediction.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently issued an orange alert for 'extremely bad weather' condition along with likely hailstorms for the state of Odisha on 11 January and 12 January respectively as stated by the department.

The weather condition may result in the closure of rail and roadways in the state and may also lead to the interruption of the power supply. There might be a cut-off in power supply for a long time in different parts of the state.

A yellow alert has been issued by IMD in other states such as West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand from Tuesday 11 January to 13 January 2022. The IMD gives warning that the weather condition might get worsened in certain regions leading to disruption in various sectors including daily activities.

While in the case of Delhi, the department said that the rainfall will substantially get decreased and from the dates of 11 January to 17 January, a minimal shower is expected in the state.

The Indian Meteorological Department also gave the weather update of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan and said that these states will witness a decrease in rainfall in the next coming days.
