Indian Army resettles 34 families of Darranga Field Firing Range

TAMULPUR, June 8: Red Horns Division in a major drive towards humanity and mankind, carried out resettlement of 34 grief-stricken families from the target area of Darranga Field Firing Range (Sukanjuli) to Patkijuli and Guabari in Baksa district along the Indo-Bhutan Border.

In this major drive med as Project Purvas by Indian Army, 34 families were identified who were residing in the safe target zone of the field firing range. Indian Army took an initiative to resettle those families to a safer place by identifying one bigha land for each family in Patkijuli and Guabari with assistance from BTC. Red Horns Division in its resolve towards mankind and humanity implemented this massive initiative under Operation Sadbhava.

Out of 34 families, 11 were resettled to Patkijuli and 23 were resettled to Guabari area in Baksa district. One Assam hut has been constructed for each family under Army's Operation Sadbhava. The households were also provided with basic amenities like provision for electricity and drinking water. The Government of Assam and BTC have provided immediate assistance in the form of 50 kg composite manure, 10 kg paddy seeds, one spray machine each, one blanket and mosquito net each, electrical connection, electrical accessories under 'Ujjwala Yoja' and zero balance account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yoja, solar lantern and ration package to all families.

Major General P S Behl, GOC 21 Mountain Division handed over the keys of new houses to the families in the presence of Biswajit Daimary, Rajya Sabha MP, Emmanuel Mochahari, MLA Tamulpur, MCLAs of Dararangajuli, grijuli, EM of BTC Maheswar Basumatary,  EM Deben Boro, and DC and SP of Baksa district. The MP in his felicitation note promised provision of LP gas connection under 'Ujjwala Yoja',  pure drinking water, farming equipment from the Agricultural Department, construction of house under Pradhan Mantri Jan Awas Yoja, fincial assistance up to Rs 1.5 lakh from BTC, BPL status and benefits of BPL scheme and toilet blocks for each house under Swachh Bharat Yoja to all families. A medical camp was also organized at the location to provide immediate medical assistance to the people of Patkijuli before the iuguration ceremony. Total 416 people were provided medical treatment by a team of Army doctors. GOC 21 Mountain Division felicitated 28 ex-service men during this function and assured them all kind of assistance by the Army units present in the region.
