Indian Railways flags off 2.8 km long 'Sheshnaag', the longest train in its history

The longest train in India has been developed by amalgamating four empty BOXN rakes, is powered by four sets of electric locomotives

Guwahati: After achieving 100% punctuality for the first time in its history, the Indian railways has made another record: running the longest train. The 2.8 kilometers long train 'SheshNaag', developed by amalgamating four empty BOXN rakes, is powered by four sets of electric locomotives.

A tweet from the official handle of the Indian Railways announced that SheshNaag is the longest train ever to run on Indian Railways, and also shared a 2 minute and 19 seconds long video of the train crossing a platform.

Although a considerable number of people tweeted praising the Indian Railways on its achievement, a significant group pointed out the problems of running such trains in places without overbridges, and the resultant delays caused to the people.

In a similar tweet, Indian Railways on Tuesday had announced another record by the Bilaspur division of SECR for joining and running three loaded trains weighing more than 15,000 tonnes in a so-called 'Anaconda' formation, through the Bilaspur and Chakradharpur divisions, and also expressed its hope of reducing the transit time of freight trains.
