Hubbali: The Indian Railway has come up with a new idea to increase its revenue. The idle AC coaches of Indian Railways are being used to transport chocolates and noodles these days.

Reportedly, the South-Western Railway on Friday transported chocolates and other products in its AC coaches.

The consignment by AVG Logistics weighing 163 tonnes which included chocolates and noodles were loaded in 18 AC coaches from Vasco da Gama in Goa to Okhla in Delhi on October 8.

According to South Western Railway, AC Parcel Express train has covered a distance of 2115 kms. It reached Delhi on Saturday. The Railways has earned revenue of about Rs 12.83 lakh from the transportation of chocolates by AC trains.

As per India railways, the monthly parcel earning of Hubli division is crossing Rs 1 crore marks since October 2020, while it earned Rs 1.58 crore in September.

According to an official statement, the Division's cumulative parcel earnings during the current financial year up to September 2021 is Rs 11.17 crore.

The Business Development Unit of Hubli Division has taken this new approach by coming out of its traditional transport area.
