New Delhi: Popular social media platform Instagram on
Tuesday has launched its new live room feature which has the ability to go live
with more than two people.
Now users would not have to stop the live session to add other people.
This will help the users in India to grow their
audience by conducting a live session with multiple guests.
Initial tests
for this feature were done in India and now India is one of the first countries
to implement it widely.
Earlier in the Instagram live room, only one user could be added in addition to the user conducting a live session.
In March, Instagram Live views in India grew by 60 percent on a week-on-week basis, therefore, to make the live feature more diverse, the company has added support for three guests. One can use this feature to start a talk show or a podcast, for Q&As sessions, or simply hang out with friends and more.
The rollout for 'Live Rooms' has started and will soon
be available to everyone in India as well as Indonesia.
"Creators are at the forefront of advancing culture and
creativity on Instagram and we are constantly innovating to help them express
themselves better. This year have witnessed widespread use of live session and
as the physical distancing norms continue, to bring friends, families, and
audiences together, and meaningful conversations, the live room will remain an
invaluable feature. From the launch of Reels to the testing and rollout of live
rooms, India is playing an important role in the way products are being designed
for the future," said Ajit Mohan, Vice President, and Managing Director,
Facebook India.
Earlier this year in September Instagram released a separate tab for the Reels feature. In this tab, users can watch short videos. The Explore tab in the navigation bar of Instagram was replaced with the Reels tab. Later Seeing the interest and creativity of the users, the company has released a separate tab for this feature.
