NEW DELHI: As many as 6 Indo Tibetan Border Police jawans feared dead while leaving around 32 injured after the bus they were travelling in rolled down the road at Frislan, Pahalgam.
According to news agency ANI, as the civil bus was carrying 39 personnels (37 from ITBP and 2 from J&K Police) trailed off the road by the river bed after its breaks failed.
The accident took place in the Frislan area, which falls between Chandanwadi and Pahalgam. The bus fell into a deep gorge about 500 feet below.
The troops were on their way from Chandanwari to Pahalgam. The jawans were deputed in the area for Amarnath Yatra.
As per latest updates at 3:00 PM, "Seven of our jawans have lost their lives in the accident. Eight jawans with serious injuries have been airlifted to Srinagar for medical treatment, others are being treated at a hospital in Anantnag", said DG ITBP, SL Thaosen.
Further, critically injured jawans airlifted to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, remaining jawans admitted at Anantnag hospital are stable stated Ranbeer Singh, DIG at Anantnag, J&K.
