SRINAGAR: On June 26, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 12 locations in Jammu and Kashmir as part of an investigation into a case related to the Pakistan-backed terror network of Overground Workers (OWG). The raids targeted various areas in the Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, and Bandipora districts of Kashmir.

In Pulwama district, the NIA raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmed Dar, an active terrorist associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in Sathergund, Kakapora. The agency questioned Dar's family members and seized certain documents. Similar raids were carried out in the villages of Ratnipora and Begumbagh in Pulwama district.

Moving to the Shopian district, the NIA searched the houses of Jahaangir Bhat, Manzoor Naikoo, and Nawaz Naikoo in Nildoora village. In Chak Chollna, the agency visited the residence of Suhila Ahmed Mir, where digital evidence was seized, and the Mir family was further interrogated. In Urpora Nagabal village, the residence of Abdul Hamid Dar was also searched. Additionally, two shopkeepers from Nagbal village, identified as Amir and Aqib Dar, were detained during the raid.

In Herman village, Jahingeer Ahmad Bhat, a 40-year-old individual running the 'Khidmat Centre' of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, was detained. The NIA, assisted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary forces, conducted the raids in coordination with the ongoing investigations into the terror conspiracy case.

During the three-hour-long raids, incriminating material, documents, and other relevant evidence were seized from the targeted locations. The NIA official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the raids aimed to uncover the involvement of sympathizers, cadres, and overground workers associated with various terror outfits such as The Resistance Front (TRF), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir (ULFJ&K).

It is worth mentioning that the central investigating agency had registered a case (no RC 5/22) in Jammu last year in connection with this ongoing investigation. The NIA's actions demonstrate the authorities' commitment to identifying and dismantling the network of individuals supporting terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir, ultimately striving to maintain peace and security in the region.
