Guwahati: Popular Indian television actor Sameer Sharma was found hanging in his Mumbai apartment on Wednesday, August 5. Mumbai police officials said the actor committed suicide.
"The actor was staying at the first floor of Neha CHS building, Ahinsa Marg in Malad (west). On Wednesday a security guard found him dead and alerted the society members", a Malad police station officer said.
According to officials, Sharma had rented the apartment in February of this year.
A senior police inspector from Malad police station said that they have registered a case of accidental death (ADR) and sent his body to a government hospital for autopsy. He further added that investigation is going on.
The actor had also appeared in the shows Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Jyoti, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Du, and Left Right Left, among others. He has also acted in films such as Hasee Toh Phasee and Ittefaq.
Meanwhile, actors Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan have condoled Sharma's demise. Putting up a picture of the late actor, Varun wrote, "#ripsameersharma."
Sidharth Malhotra was also spotted grieving the loss of his 'Hasee Toh Phasee' co-star and shared a still from the movie on Instagram. He added, "Really sad and unfortunate." Sharma had made his debut in the film, which starred Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in leading roles.
Sameer Sharma's demise has been reported at a time when several Indian actors, including Manmeet Grewal, Preksha Mehta, and Sushant Singh Rajput, have died by suicide. His last social media post was shared on July 29.
