CHENNAI: Popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, whose movie Thalaivi is slated to hit the theatres in the next few days, has paid tribute to former chief minister chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa at her memorial in Chennai.

In the film, Kangana is playing the role of Jayalalithaa and the movie is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 10. The movie has been directed by AL Vijay and also stars Arvind Swami as MGR.

Earlier, the film was scheduled for release in April 2021, but it was postponed because of the second wave of coronavirus in the country. Recently, Kangana took to social media and expressed her disappointment for the fact that theatres were not agreeing to release her movie (Thalaivii).

According to reports, three leading multiplex chains have decided to not go with ahead with releasing the film over the time gap of theatrical and the digital release of the movie.

The Tanu Weds Manu actor had also on Instagram stories requested multiplex owners to support each other during these troubled times.

Born in Himachal Pradesh on March 23, 1987, Kangana Ranaut is the recipient of several awards, including four national film awards and four filmfare awards. Apart from that, the stylish actress has featured six times in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list. She was awarded with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award, by the Government of India in the year 2016.

She had received praise for her impressive performances in films like Woh Lamhe (2006), Life in a Metro (2007) and Fashion (2008).
