KANNUR: In an unexpected turn of events today, an Air India Express flight en route to Dubai from Karipur International Airport found itself diverted to Kannur Airport shortly after take-off. The reason? The pilot noticed a fire warning light in the aircraft's cargo hold, triggering a swift and cautious response.

The flight, identified as IX 345, had 176 people on board, including passengers and crew. Thankfully, all occupants disembarked safely at Kannur Airport, and there were no reported injuries or issues among the passengers.

The flight had departed from Karipur Airport at approximately 9:53 am, and the incident occurred approximately one hour into the journey. Upon detecting the warning light, the pilot made the responsible decision to reroute the aircraft to Kannur Airport.

Air India Express later clarified that the fire warning light turned out to be a false alarm, alleviating concerns about an actual fire in the cargo hold. While the diversion may have caused some inconvenience to passengers, safety remained the top priority for the airline.

"Following a false alarm, our Kozhikode-Dubai flight has been diverted to Kannur. An alternative flight is being arranged to continue the scheduled operations to Dubai from Kannur," stated an airline spokesperson.

Acknowledging the delay and potential discomfort experienced by passengers, Air India Express took proactive steps to ensure their well-being. The airline provided food and refreshments to ensure the comfort of all passengers affected by the diversion.

To expedite the passengers' journey to their intended destination, Dubai, Air India Express devised a solution. Another Air India Express flight, originating from Sharjah and scheduled to land at Kannur Airport soon, would be utilized to transport the passengers to Dubai. This strategic move aimed to minimize further disruptions to their travel plans.

The swift and precautionary diversion to Kannur Airport ensured the safety of all 176 passengers and crew on board. While the incident caused a delay, the airline acted responsibly, offering passengers refreshments and arranging an alternative flight to ensure they could reach their final destination in Dubai.
