Kanpur: Army colonel first intoxicates friend, later rapes his wife

Kanpur: In a shocking and tragic incident, an Army colonel from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was booked by police for allegedly raping a friend's wife at an officers mess in Kanpur Cantt. The colonel from Kanpur army camp was booked on Sunday, following an FIR lodged by the victim's husband.

The victim, a Russian national, is living in India for the last 10 years. The FIR was lodged against the Kanpur Army colonel at the Cantonment Police Station. According to the complaint lodged against the officer, the colonel invited his friend and his wife to a party hosted by him. The party was organised on the occasion of the promotion of the Army officer's rank from lieutenant colonel to the post of colonel. Victim's husband alleged that the accused offered an intoxicating drink to him, which made him unconscious. The accused then raped his friend's wife. When the woman resisted the moves of the accused, he allegedly assaulted the woman.

The Superintendent of Police, Kanpur (East), Raj Kumar Agarwal said that the police have started an inquiry into the case and are trying to arrest the accused colonel.

A case has also been registered under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and several teams of Police have been formed to arrest the colonel.

In another incident in Noida, a Youtuber was arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman before he posted a video of the heinous crime on various social media platforms. The accused, identified as one Rajiv Kumar invited the victim to meet him at an address in Sector 39, Noida. When she arrived, the accused offered the victim with a beverage allegedly mixed with intoxicating substance, following which she lost her consciousness. The accused raped her recorded a video of the crime. In her complaint, the victim said that she was raped, drugged and blackmailed to post the video on the social media platforms.
