Karnataka Mandates Masks In Public Areas Prior To New Year Celebrations

NEW DELHI: Masks are now required in public areas throughout the state, including malls, movie theaters, schools, and institutions, according to a Monday order from the Karnataka government. As Covid-19 instances increased in China and a few other nations prior to the New Year's celebrations, the state government also mandated masks in pubs, clubs, and restaurants.

Masks have been made required inside theaters, schools, and universities, according to Karnataka's health minister K Sudhakar, who spoke after an important meeting with the experts and government representatives. In bars, restaurants, and pubs, masks will be required for New Year's celebrations.

The minister further stated that New Year's Eve festivities were to halt by one in the morning. "New Year's Eve festivities in the state should wrap up by 1 am. There is absolutely no reason to panic; you simply need to exercise prudence, the minister continued.

According to the sources, On Thursday, the Karnataka government made face masks a requirement in enclosed areas and air-conditioned spaces. Additionally, the government will practise an emergency reaction to deal with Covid-19 in all state-run hospitals.

At Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport in December, a total of 12 foreign travellers tested positive for Covid-19, the minister added. The samples from each positive instance were sent for genome sequencing in order to track and catalogue the variations.

While Covid-19 instances have returned in a number of nations, the latest figures from the Union Health Ministry show that infections in India somewhat decreased on Monday. As per the sources, 201 Covid cases were reported in India last week.

Reports said that the number of Covid-19 active cases has, however, slightly grown to 3,428. In the past 24 hours, there has been an increase of four cases in the active Covid caseload. 5,30,695 people have died as a result of coronavirus infection, and Kerala has reconciled two of those deaths.
