NEW DELHI: In Uttarakhand, a video of a woman proposing to her boyfriend in front of the Kedarnath shrine has gone viral. The Uttarakhand Police announced that "action will be taken" against those filming films and reels within the Kedarnath temple a day after the Badri-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) adopted a tough stance about a popular proposal video that was filmed at the sanctuary.
Recently, bollywood actress Raveena Tandon expressed her support for the couple who are in trouble after getting engaged on the grounds of the Kedarnath Temple.
The BKTC objected to the proposal video and submitted a letter to the police requesting that they take action against anyone filming on the temple's property.
The committee claimed that Instagram influencers and YouTubers were filming close to the Kedarnath Temple and offending both Indian and foreign worshippers. The committee felt that such recordings have a detrimental effect on the faith of pilgrims visiting Kedarnath.
The executive officer of the committee, Ramesh Chandra Tiwari, has requested that the police keep an eye on those who post YouTube clips and reels that offend religious sensibilities.
The appropriateness of making a marriage proposal at a temple has also become a topic of discussion on Twitter in response to the video.
While other people didn't see anything wrong with the gesture, a significant portion of the internet did. The sacredness of the Kedarnath temple was allegedly violated as a result, according to critics.
The holy site Kedarnath is the subject of a recent social media controversy when a video of YouTuber Vishakha Fulsunge was posted there.
She is pictured on her knees holding a ring while wearing a yellow saree. The praying companion of Vishakha initially appears surprised but replies positively. The couple embraces warmly after getting dressed.
Devotees visiting the temple are required to turn off their mobile devices before entering the premises as a result of the viral proposal video. According to sources, plans will soon be made to keep cellphones outside the temple, as per reports.
