Maharashtra: The police confirmed about Vijaya Amrute, a resident of Mukundwadi was arrested after a man, identified as Yogesh Shirsath, resident of Sinnar, Nashik registered a complaint against her, claiming she fled with his possesions a fortnight after the wedding ceremony.

According to reports, Amrute got married to Shirsath and disappeared with his possessions. After which, she tied the knot with Sandeep Darade, a resident of Raogad's Karjat. She then married a man from western Maharashtra and cheated on him by fleeing with his valuables too. All of these in three months.

The woman con artist came to light after Shirsath lodged a complaint against her and found out that she married another man and similarly conned him. As per reports, she had joined a racket engaging in shady businesses after she and her husband lost their respective jobs during coronavirus-induced lockdown period.

After having gone through a severe financial crisis due to job loss, she turned for help towards a racket spearheaded by a couple who looted and fooled bachelors. The racketeer couple would extort Rs. 2-5 lakh from the latter, this included their fee and wedding expenses. The bride is supervised to run away with jewellery and other valuable belonging after the ceremony.

Shirsath was successful in exposing the racket after he failed to find his 'wife' and realised she had already married another man whom she had conned too after marriage. The police registered a complaint about the same and arrested the accused.
