Man beaten to death over Rs20 in Delhi, accused apprehended

An FIR was lodged against the assaulters on the basis of Mukesh’s (son of deceased) statement. According to Mukesh, the accused assumed that Kumar was dead and fled from the spot.

In a tragic incident a 38-year-old Delhi man, Rupesh Kumar was beaten to death by a barber shop owner and his brother over payment of as less as Rs.20 in the National Capital. The incident took place on September 24 in front of the victim's 13-year-old son Mukesh, who reportedly tried to stop the assaulters and begged them to spare his father.

The police arrested the two brothers Santosh and Saroj for the murder of Rupesh.

According to the police, the incident took place when Rupesh went to a neighborhood salon for a shave and was asked to pay an amount of Rs.50, but he could only give Rs30 saying he would pay the rest later. This led to a fight where the brothers allegedly started thrashing Rupesh with a plastic pipe. Rupesh was later rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

An FIR was lodged against the assaulters on the basis of Mukesh's statement. According to Mukesh, the accused assumed that Kumar was dead and fled from the spot.

Police said the arrested have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Kumar, a vegetable vendor is survived by his wife and their five children in Sant Nagar.
