Manipur Woman Attempts To Abandon Child In Ahmedabad, Arrested By Police

Ahmedabad: The Vejalpur police recently arrested a woman from Manipur for allegedly trying to abandon her own child. She was caught trying to escape after leaving behind her child by the residents of a society who later called the police.

One of the residents of Shrinandnagar Phase 4, Manisha Shah, filed a complaint after which an FIR was lodged against the Manipur woman under section 317 of IPC.

In a statement by Manisha Shah, it was revealed that the woman has passed by her as she walked to her apartment after offering prayers. When she reached her apartment she found that her neighbours were curiously wondering about the origin of the wails of a child. The discovery of the child on the staircase alarmed the residents and immediately looked out for the unknown woman who was later caught by the nearby passerby. 

Upon being questioned by the crowd about her relation to the child, the woman confessed to being the mother. She further revealed that she was abandoning the child as she did not want her secret to be out.

The residents later called the police who arrested the woman. The woman is now in police custody.
