Guwahati: The last message before death sent by Indian Army Major Ketan Sharma to his family through the messaging app WhatsApp has brought tears into the eyes of people. This is heartrending and upsetting to feel the pain the martyred Army officer felt while texting the message to his family and is equally shattering it is to feel it from his family’s point of view.
The last message of the dying Army official who succumbed to his injuries reads thus: “Maybe this is my last photo.” The text with the last photo of the dying officer was sent at around 7 am on Monday. The Army officer had sent the photograph of himself on a family WhatsApp group. As predicted by him, Major Ketan Sharma breathed his last a couple of hours later.
Late major Sharma was injured during a gun battle in South Kashmir’s Anantnag that took place in the early hours on Monday. Sharma was an officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles and was hit in an exchange of fire with a militant. The armed forces were on a joint security operation in Badoora village of Achabal when suddenly the militants hiding in the area started an attack on the armed forces.
The very scene of his hometown Meerut once his body arrives was painful enough for one to bear.
A shock-attacked mother of Late major Sharma, Usha cries, “Mera sher putt goliyon toh nahi darda si (My brave son wasn’t afraid of bullets). Where has my son gone? Just tell me what time Ranu (his nickname) will be back, I request you to return him to me.”
