On Friday evening the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) transferred 6 cases to IPS Officer Sanjay Singh the head of the Special Investigation Team, SIT. The six cases also include the Mumbai Zone drug case of Aryan Khan the son of Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan.
Aryan Khan Drug case was earlier headed by Sameer Wankhede who himself has now come under severe scrutiny after numerous allegations against him by cabinet minister Nawab Malik of Maharashtra. On Friday, November 05, half a dozen of cases that were under Wakhende were transferred to Special Investigation Team headed by Sanjay Kumar Singh. NCB took the decision for transfer of cases as Sameer Wankhede faces allegations of bribery and extortion including questions over his extortionate personal lifestyle.
Sanjay Kumar Singh is a 1996-batch IPS cadre Officer from Odisha who is at present the Deputy Director-General of NCB, Narcotics Control Bureau. His post as a Deputy Director-General is set for the time period of up to 31 January 2025 which can be changed in a certain order. Singh has served in various capacities along with Odisha Police and CBI, Central Bureau of Investigation.
The drug task force (DTF) of Odisha was headed by Singh as an additional director general (ADG) at the time of his duty with Odisha Police. Throughout his service, Singh has made a great contribution in busting drug rackets as he had raided many drugs trafficking rackets in Bhubaneswar and launched a series of anti-drug drives in the state. He had worked as commissioner of Bhubaneswar and also as additional commissioner of Twin City, Odisha Police.
Till the year 2015 Singh had worked with CBI in the post of DIG, Deputy Inspector General, and during that time he handled various high profiled cases such as CRPF recruitment, Medical Council of India that and most notably the scam in 2015 Commonwealth Games. Sanjay Kumar Singh had completed his graduation from Hindu College under Delhi University.
