New Delhi: The movie Kashmir Files has caused quite a stir in India and has become a raging issue across the nation. It is primarily because of the fact that the film has been politicized to a large extent with some elements calling for a boycott of the film.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP MJ Akbar has also given his reaction about the movie. In an interview to Zee news, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the massacre in Kashmir happened to be a strategy of Pakistan. Islamabad deliberately wanted to create unrest and chaos in the Kashmir valley so as to provoke violence which no one could have imagined in their wildest of dreams.
He added that the task of shattering the democratic pattern that was prevalent in Kashmir for years, was outsourced to some terrorist organizations.
MJ further went on to say that these events resulted in people becoming refugees in their own country. The Kashmiri Pandits had to endure the tag of internally displaced people (IDP). It was crystal clear that Pakistan's intention was bad but the government of that time was unsuccessful in coming to their rescue.
An alliance between the Congress Party and Farooq Abdullah's National Conference was in place during that time. Akbar said that this is the reason why what happened then is being reminded today.
Recalling the question asked to Rajiv Gandhi on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, Akbar said, " That incident was very painful. And as far as my experience is concerned, I am deeply saddened by that incident. My heart trembles when I remember, what to say about sorrow. I could not see that after all a group of its own country, a community, had to become a refugee."
He also revealed that he had raised this matter and had even asked questions about it during that time and he said that Rajiv Gandhi did not intervene on the issue of exodus.
Furthermore, the Rajya Sabha MP said that some people forget about these things today and they do not want to discuss about it. People should keep in mind that all the documents of the Emergency era are also present. He concluded by saying that there will be someone to make a film on that too.
