Nita Ambani is the Only Indian to Feature Among Top Global Philanthropists of 2020

NEW DELHI: Nita Ambani is the only Indian to feature in Town & Country magazine's top global philanthropists of 2020 list.

It is to be mentioned here that the Reliance Foundation chairperson's name feature along with prominent global individuals including Tim Cook, Oprah Winfrey, Laurene Powell Jobs, the Lauder Family, Donatella Versace, Michael Bloomberg, and Leonardo Di Caprio.

Wife of Asian tycoon Mukesh Ambani, Nita was recognized by T&C among the top philanthropists "who are saving lives and our sense of hope" during the pandemic.

The magazine highlighted Ambani for leading Reliance Foundation's efforts in feeding frontline workers and the underprivileged, a contribution of $72 million to an emergency fund for relief work, and for setting up India's first Covid-19 hospital.

'Humbled and pleased' at the recognition, Ambani in a statement said, "Over the years, we have equipped ourselves at the foundation and at Reliance Industries to respond to crises with immediate, multi-pronged as well as systematic and calibrated responses to make our effort impactful and sustained."

Indian Premier League (IPL) defending champions Mumbai Indians also took to Twitter to congratulate their owner. "Mrs. Nita Ambani is the only Indian to be featured in Town & Country magazine's list of top global philanthropists of 2020 who are working towards saving lives during the COVID-19 pandemic," the team tweeted.
