Patna: The leader of Janata Dal (United), Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth consecutive term. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA)won the majority of seats in the Bihar Assembly elections. NDA won an absolute majority in Bihar by winning 125 seats, three seats more than the simple majority. Although BJP put up a stellar performance in the elections by winning 72 seats, it has earlier announced that irrespective of the number of seats won by any party of NDA, Nitish Kumar would be the Chief Ministerial candidate of Bihar.
Along with the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, Tarikishore Prasad and Renu Devi sworn-in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. The oath-taking ceremony also saw various ministers taking the oath as the Cabinet Ministers of Bihar. A few of them are Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Mewa Lal Choudhary, and so on.
The 69-year-old Nitish Kumar has served the state as the Chief Minister for three terms.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several others have congratulated Nitish Kumar on the occasion.
