Much to the disappointment of lakhs of PUBG fans across India, access to PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite would no longer be available from Friday. Tencent Games, promoters of the popular games made this announcement on its Facebook page and also posted it on the game's community forum.

Tencent Games said that it will terminate all service and access to both PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG Mobile Lite for Indian users.

Mentioning the service and access termination, Tencent wrote on Facebook, "To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020. Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG Mobile Lite (together, "PUBG Mobile") on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG Mobile in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property. Protecting user data has always been a top priority and we have always complied with applicable data protection laws and regulations in India. All user's gameplay information is processed transparently as disclosed in our privacy policy."

"We deeply regret this outcome, and sincerely thank you for your support and love for PUBG Mobile in India," Tencent added.

Nearly a month back Indian government had banned these gaming apps along with 177 more Chinese apps for their links with China. PUBG Mobile as well as PUBG Mobile Lite were taken off Google Play and iOS app store although both games remained available to users who had already installed them on their phones and tablets. But now with the shutting down of the servers playing the downloaded games could prove to be difficult.
