MUMBAI: In a tragic incident, a worker was killed and at least six other workers sustained injuries in a blaze following an explosion at a cloth manufacturing factory in Boisar in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6am on Saturday morning at the factory (Jakharia Fabric Limkited) located in an industrial area in Boisar. An explosion took place after which the cloth manufacturing unit was engulfed by flames. The deceased worker was identified as Mithilesh Rajvanshi. His charred body was found inside the factory. Other workers Arvind Yadav, Mukesh Yadav, Amit Yadav Ganesh Patil, Murli Gautam and Umesh Rajvanshi suffered burn injuries in the incident and they were being treated at a local hospital.
The workers told the police that a labourer Chotelal Saroj, who was also working inside the factory when the fire broke out, was missing. Police were searching the labourer, as per last reports available.
A few eye-witnesses said the sound of the explosion was "extremely loud" and it could be heard around three kilometres away from the cloth manufacturing unit. The blaze was brought was under control after fire fighters rushed to the place and swung into action. Necessary procedures to cool the place were being done.
Maharashtra had witnessed another incident of fire recently in the last week of August. A blaze had broken out in a chemical factory in an industrial area of Amravati because of which machinery and property in the factory were damaged. No casualties were reported in the incident.
