Guwahati: Social media is blowing up right now with one word, Binod. Moments earlier, #Binod was trending on Indian Twitter with over 50 thousand tweets.

The popularity of the hashtag reached such heights that even Paytm decided to partake in the fame and changed their name on Twitter to "Binod."

This transpired after a Twitter user tweeted to the company, challenging them to change the name. Paytm accepted the challenge and promptly changed its name.

The origin of the #Binod trend and the subsequent memes has been traced to a YouTube channel by the name of Slayy Point. The channel posted a video where the presenters Abhyudaya and Gautami explored the comments section under Indian YouTube channels.

In the video titled "Why Indian Comments Section is Garbage, they read out weird comments on YouTube videos. One such comment was made by a user by the name Binod Tharu, whose comment simply read, "Binod." The comment had several likes on it as well.

A Twitter user by the name Priya Shetty shared an image detailing the origin behind the #Binod trend. She too mentioned the YouTube comment that started it all.

The image said, "Binod is actually the first name of Binod Tharu, a person who commented on a YouTube video. His comment was nothing but Binod."

The image further mentioned the YouTube video that catapulted the name 'Binod" to fame. The image also mentioned that the video by Slayy Point poked fun at that comment for a while before moving on but by then netizens started using the name everywhere and it went viral.

This particular video by Slayy Point too went viral. The channel, Slayy Point has gone a step further and updated the description of their account saying, "Founder of BINOD. Hello Binod Army".

Indian internet has now been taken over by scores of memes and posts all based on the trend #Binod.
