UTTAR PRADESH: A picture of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer selling vegetables in a roadside stall has been making the rounds on social media. The IAS officer Akhilesh Mishra, who holds the position of a special secretary in the state's transport department, is seen sitting at the roadside stall with vegetables.
The picture, which has been shared across various social media platforms, has left netizens surprised and questions are being raised from various circles on what made the IAS officer do something like selling vegetables in a roadside stall. Amid debates of whether the picture is real or fake, Akhilesh Mishra himself took to social media and narrated about the tale behind the viral photo. He said that the incident took place recently when he was in Prayagraj (erstwhile Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh for his official work. After finishing his work, he stopped at a place (when he was returning after wrapping up his work) where the roadside stall is located. The stall's owner, an old woman, requested him to look after her shop and said she would be back within a short while, the IAS officer said.
He said he, after the woman (stall's owner left) sat at the shop following which a customer and the stall's owner came after some time. His friend (who was with him at that time) clicked his picture at the roadside stall and uploaded the picture from his mobile phone on his Facebook profile, he said.
A video of an additional superintendent of police of West Bengal's Murshidabad Tanmoy Sarkar had gone viral similarly on social media a few days ago. The video shows Sarkar selling guavas on a busy road, whereas in reality he had gone to the stall to buy the fruit.
