KARGIL: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted and thanked the soldiers posted at the border of the country on the occasion of Diwali.

The Prime Minister is in the Kargil Sector of the international border in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The aim of this visit was to boost the morale of the soldiers posted in the region on the occasion of the festival of lights. During a speech, he mentioned the impossibility of achieving peace without the availability of power. Although war is always the last resort for the country, India will take steps to maintain the peace and safety of its citizens said the PM

Addressing the soldiers as his kin, the PM said that he could not have celebrated Diwali in any better way He praised the bravery and sacrifices made by the soldiers to keep the borders guarded. Praising the fight against terrorism, he said, that the Drass, Batalik and Tiger Hill sectors have been the witnesses to the courage and sacrifices of the Indian soldiers.

"Sweetness and brightness of my Diwali is amid you. India is now respected globally. While you protect our borders, we are taking a tough stand against our enemies. If we are challenged, then our armed forces know how to give a befitting reply to the enemy in their own language," said the PM.

Narendra Modi has been celebrating Diwali at various military facilities since he came to power in 2014. He mentioned that all three defence forces - Army, Navy, and Air Force - have taken drastic steps to reduce their dependence on imported equipment. And new and indigenous technology and equipment are quickly replacing external ones.

The PM had arrived in Kargil earlier to celebrate the auspicious day with the army jawans.

"Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali. Diwali is associated with brightness and radiance. May this auspicious festival further the spirit of joy and well-being in our lives. I hope you have a wonderful Diwali with family and friends," Narendra Modi tweeted.
