NEW DELHI: In a momentous event scheduled for Sunday, September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the first phase of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), known as 'YashoBhoomi,' situated in Dwarka, Delhi. This development is a testament to PM Modi's vision of establishing world-class infrastructure to host meetings, conferences, and exhibitions within the country. The inauguration will also mark the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25.
Yasho Bhoomi, with its vast expanse and cutting-edge facilities, is set to become one of the world's largest MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) venues. Spanning over an impressive total project area of more than 8.9 lakh square meters and boasting a built-up area exceeding 1.8 lakh square meters, this convention and expo center is a remarkable addition to India's infrastructure landscape.
The heart of YashoBhoomi is its convention center, occupying more than 73,000 square meters. It comprises 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium and a grand ballroom, along with 13 meeting rooms, collectively capable of accommodating up to 11,000 delegates. Notably, it boasts the largest LED media facade in the country, offering a stunning visual experience for visitors.
The main auditorium, with a seating capacity of around 6,000 guests, stands as the centerpiece of the convention center. It features an innovative automated seating system that can transform the floor into a flat surface or an auditorium-style tiered seating arrangement, adapting to different event requirements.
Yasho Bhoomi also showcases a commitment to sustainability through its state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system, enabling 100 percent wastewater reuse. The center incorporates rainwater harvesting, rooftop solar panels, and has earned the prestigious Green Cities Platinum certification from CII's Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
Adding to its accessibility, YashoBhoomi will be seamlessly connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line through the inauguration of the new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25. As part of this connectivity enhancement, the Delhi Metro system will increase the operational speed of Metro trains on the Airport Express Line from 90 km/hr to 120 km/hr, significantly reducing travel time. The journey from New Delhi to YashoBhoomi in Dwarka Sector 25 will now take only approximately 21 minutes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication of YashoBhoomi and the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line signifies a significant milestone in India's pursuit of world-class infrastructure for hosting international events and providing efficient transportation options for its citizens. This state-of-the-art convention center and enhanced metro connectivity are poised to make a lasting impact on India's capacity to host global gatherings and showcase its commitment to sustainable development.
