Poll Strategist Prashant Kishor Likely To Be Inducted In Congress

NEW DELHI: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi is likely to induct poll strategist Prashant Kishor into the party with the goal to trounce the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Sonia is yet to finalise the decision, but a section of Congress leaders has already expressed their opposition to the inclusion.

Prashant Kishor, who is considered as one of the finest brains as far as understanding politics and its diverse facets are concerned, has proved his mettle several times – the most famous being his success in bringing the Narendra Modi–led BJP to power in the year 2014.

As per media reports, Sonia Gandhi is interested to take Kishor in the party and has begun consultations for the final decision. However, a section of senior Congress leaders is against this move.

Kishor had last time worked for state elections for the Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal assembly elections. Not only he delivered victory, but his mantras helped the TMC retain power with a massive margin. As Kishor wishes to have a full-fledged role and the power to make decisions on election-related matters, leaders in the Congress are against giving a single person free hand about the same.

It may be mentioned that the Congress has suffered at least three major jolts since the assembly election in Assam this year. All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev resigned from the party last month and joined the TMC. Sushmita was one of the most popular and active leaders of the Congress in Assam. Apart from that, two other MLAs – Rupjyoti Kurmi (who remained in news from time to time over the years for his vocal nature) and Sushanta Borgohain left the party after the assembly elections' results.
