NEW DELHI: US singer Rihanna was allegedly paid $2.5 million (Rs 18 crore) by a Public Relations firm with alleged Khalistani links for her tweet in solidarity to the farmers' protest in India.

According to the print, the singer's single tweet which captured a global spotlight made a series of reaction among the activists as well as the government of India.

Reportedly, Mo Dhaliwal, the founder of the Canada-based Poetic Justice Foundation (PJF) that also created the controversial 'toolkit' tweeted by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, is one of the Directors of the PR firm in question - Skyrocket.

Earlier, questioning the silence around the issue, the international pop singer, actress and philanthropist, Rihanna helped shed light on the issue with her 101 million Twitter followers.

"Why aren't we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest," she asked in her tweet.

However talking a jibe at this, Bollywood actor, Kangana, wrote, "No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like the USA... Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies."

While her reply left fans of the singer and Twitterati stunned, a screenshot of Kangana's old post, fangirling over RiRi's song 'Diamonds' went viral.

On the other hand, Ranaut's Once Upon a Time in Mumbai co-star Randeep Hooda shared a cheeky post of his own. Randeep Hooda shared a clip from their 2010 film in which Kangana Ranaut essayed the role of a Bollywood actress named Rehana Shergill. The similarity between the names of the character Ranaut played and the pop singer she attacked was not lost on Mr Hooda.

In the short clip from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai which he posted on social media, Randeep Hooda, who played ACP Agnel Wilson in the movie, is shown a picture of Kangana Ranaut and asked if he knows her.

"Isse kaun nahi jaanta - mashoor film star Rehana (Who doesn't know her - she's Rehana, the famous film star)," he says.
