Guwahati: On the occasion of Christmas, the President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal extended their wishes to everyone.
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 every year. It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. During this time of merrymaking and happiness, the cities are filled with Christmas trees glistening with perfectly hung lights, and the smell of freshly baked cookies.
President Ram Nath Kovind extended his heartfelt greetings on the occasion of Christmas. He hopes that the festival nurtures peace and prosperity, and further helps in strengthening the harmony in the society.
"Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope this festival nurtures peace and prosperity, and helps strengthen harmony in society. Let us follow Christ's teachings of love, compassion, and charity, committing ourselves to the welfare of our society and nation," the President tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished the nation on the occasion. He said that may the path of Jesus Christ keeps showing the way in building a just and inclusive society.
PM Modi tweeted, "Merry Christmas! The life and principles of Lord Christ gives strength to millions across the world. May his path keep showing the way in building a just and inclusive society. May everybody be happy and healthy."
Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal also wished a Merry Christmas to everyone. He hopes that joy and prosperity come to everyone's life.
"#MerryChristmas to all. Let the noble teaching of Lord Jesus Christ usher the spirit of harmony & bonhomie and bring joy and prosperity in everyone's life."
Along with the President, Prime Minister and Assam CM, various other political figures have extended their wishes on Christmas.
Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu wished everyone a beautiful festive season.
Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma posted a video of him extending wishes on Christmas on Twitter.
N Biren Singh, the CM of Manipur also wished the people on Christmas.
