AGARTALA: Droupadi Murmu, the President of India has started her three-day visit to the Northeastern States on Wednesday. The first stop in her itinerary for this visit is the state of Tripura. She landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport on Wednesday morning.

The President of India was received by the Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha. She proceeded to inaugurate the Tripura State Judicial University during her visit. She also unveiled the model of the planned National Law University (NLU) Tripura campus in the Narsingarh region in Agartala.

After that, she proceeded to the Central Tea Processing Factory located about 20 km from the capital of the state. She also visited the Durgabari Tea estate and interacted with the authorities and workers of the estate. The President of India also did a photo session with the children of the workers of the tea garden during her visit.

The literacy rate is often very limited in the tea gardens of the region. Speaking on the occasion she mentioned the importance of education in the growth and development of the nation. She urged all the workers of the tea garden to send their children to school for proper formal education. She also enquired with the workers if the chief minister and state administration pay heed to their problems and mentioned that their representatives are responsible for their well-being and happiness.

After the event, she was scheduled to inaugurate the new MLA hostel in the New Capital Complex in the afternoon of Wednesday. She will also inaugurate several other projects across the state virtually during her state. Another key part of her visit is the flagging off of the new trains to the state. She will also visit the famous Tripurasundari Temple in the Gomati district before leaving for Guwahati on Thursday morning where she will stay till October 14.
