Price of Domestic LPG Cylinder Hiked By Rs.25 For The Third Time

New Delhi: The price of domestic LPG cylinders have witnessed a hike of Rs. 25 all across the country. A 14.2-kilogram cooking gas cylinder will now cost Rs. 884.50 in Delhi after the hike. The price of the LPG cylinders has been raised in an equal amount in all parts of the country.

This is the third time that the oil companies run by the states have increased the price of the domestic LPG cylinders. Previously, the price was increased by Rs. 25 in both the months of July and August. In this manner, the price of cooking gas has been raised by Rs. 75 in three months.

This has come as a matter of great concern to the citizens, especially the economically weaker sections of society. The government has been lowering its support for LPG since May last year after eliminating the LPG subsidy. This will affect millions of Indian households that struggle to afford the bare minimum. 

According to various sources, many states have been experiencing a dip in the sale of LPG. A high increase in the price may further lead to a drop in the demand of cooking gas. 

It is also almost impossible for poor households to afford LPG cylinders without subsidy. In an attempt to save money, many are likely to cut down on its usage.

Many others may go for cheaper options such as electric cooking or commercialized gas pipelines. However, the people most severely hit by this hike will be the ones living in the rural areas.
