Guwahati: In a significant development, images of tricolour and the proposed Ram Mandir were displayed at the iconic Times Square in New York on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the structure in Ayodhya on August 5.

The digital display of Lord Ram is known to be one of the most expensive digital billboards of the Hindu deity at Times Square. The display lit up at 10 am and will continue till 10 pm, to celebrate the laying of the temple's foundation.

"It shows how successful Indians are in America that our Ram Temple and tricolour are on the most iconic screen in the world. It is a proud moment for India and Indians," Jagdish Sewhani, President of the American India Public Affairs Committee, said.

Notably, Indian-Americans residing in US celebrated the occasion marking the construction of the historic Ram Temple by lighting diyas and taking around a tableau truck displaying digital images of the Ram Temple across the US Capitol Hill.

It has been reported that in the US, many Hindu community groups would be organising virtual events to mark the importance of the occasion.

It is to be mentioned that the completion of 'Ram Mandir' is expected to take three years. The model of the temple is based on a design proposed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
