Rs 2 Crore Ex-gratia Sought For Family Of Tribal Man Who Was Dragged By Truck In Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: On Sunday, a huge crowd comprising tribal people had gathered under the banner of various organisations at Barda village in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh. 10 days ago, a 40-year old man had died after being beaten up and dragged by a truck by some people in the village. The tribal crowd that included members of Jay Adivasi Yuva Sakti (JAYS) had gathered to demand justice for the 40-year old.

The protest was led by Congress MLA and JAYS founder Hiralal Alawa, who demanded that the kin of the victim must be compensated with an amount of Rs. 2 crores. He further added that the family of the victim has received ex-gratia of only 4 lakhs rupees.

The victim has been identified as Kanhaiyalal Bheel.

The JAYS founder also asserted that only 8 persons have been booked in connection to the incident while 20 people were involved in the thrashing and dragging of Bheel.

As per reports, many tribals from neighbouring states had arrived in Neemuch to take part in the protest.

On August 26, a milkman, Chhitar Mal Gurjar, who was riding his motorcycle had collided with Bheel while he was standing on the road. Furious over the milk that had spilt on the road, Gurjar began to beat up Bheel. Later, he was tied up to the rear of a truck by some of Gurjar's acquaintances and was dragged for some distance. 

Bheel died the next day while undergoing treatment at the Neemuch district hospital. The 8 accused have been booked by the police.
