Security beefed up outside Mumbai's Taj hotels after threat calls from Pak

Guwahati: Mumbai's iconic Taj Hotel has received a bomb threat call, reportedly from Pakistan, following which security has been tightened outside the hotel on Tuesday.

The call was traced to Karachi, Pakistan, said Mumbai police, adding that the caller has been identified as a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The call was received around 12 midnight on Monday. Reportedly, the caller said, ''everyone saw the terrorist attack on the Karachi Stock Exchange, now the 26/11 attack in the Taj Hotel will happen once again.''

Another threat call was also received by the staff of the Taj Lands End hotel located in Bandra which is another property of the Taj Hotel Group and security has also been beefed up there. Reportedly, the second threat call was also made from Pakistan.

In view of the threat calls, the Mumbai Police has launched an investigation into the matter and call details are being verified. Coastal patrolling and surveillance has also been escalated.

It is to be mentioned that on 26 November 2008, there was a terrorist attack in Mumbai in which Taj Hotel was also targeted. This was one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in India's history which lasted for over 60 hours. The terrorist attack, which shook the entire nation, left 166 people dead and over 300 injured.
