Guwahati: Spotify
has become the latest platform to add a 'story' feature that allows users to
post photos or videos that usually disappear after 24 hours.
The new feature is still being reviewed, although it is
visible on select Spotify playlists that can be accessed through both Android and iOS applications. Similarly, the ability to upload stories currently
resides with limited artists and the company is yet to share more information regarding
its general availability.
The company said, "We regularly conduct several tests in an effort to improve
our user experience. Some of those tests pave the way for our broader user
experience while others serve only as an important learning. We don't have any
more news to share for the future at this time."
Over the past few months, social media platforms such
as Twitter and LinkedIn have rolled out their own versions of stories that are
eligible to be used globally.
Spotify also confirmed Engadget's development, stating
that the story is currently in its early stages.
However, the feature of the story on the Spotify playlist is slightly different
compared to other social media platforms.
Whereas, on other platforms, the ability to view and
upload the story is available on the app's homepage in Spotify, users will need
to open a playlist to view the story and look for the story section directly on
that page.
Additionally, it seems that the current stories in Spotify playlists do not
disappear after 24 hours. The story section can be found on the Spotify
playlist, Christmas Hits featuring snippets from artists such as Kelly
Clarkson, Meghan Trainor, and more.
In January of this year, the news of Spotify
working on Stories feature came out for the first time.
Spotify is one of the most popular music and audio
streaming platforms worldwide which over 299 million active monthly users.
