New Delhi: Weeks after Lakhimpur kheri incident in Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court which had taken a suo motu cognisance, on Thursday has direct the stat government file a detailed status reports in 24 hours.

The apex court has directed the state government to file the reports about what actions they have taken, including the name of arrested persons who were named in the FIRs for murder.

After a letter which was written by two advocates from Uttar Pradesh, a bench led by CJI NV Ramana had taken the suo motu cognisance of the matter.

The apex court has termed the matter as "extremely unfortunate".

The bench includedJustice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli—asked the state government to provide immediate medical treatment to the mother of deceased Lovepreet Singh who was in a critical condition.

"We direct the learned Additional Advocate General to look into the matter personally and provide best medical treatment to the mother of the deceased in a reputed Government Medical College/Hospital at UP," it ordered.

After the court direction the Additional advocate general Garima Prashad assed that all the details will be submitted before the court immediately.

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri have arrested two persons in connection with the Sunday violence in Tikunia village in the district. The arrested persons have been identified as Luvkush Rana and Ashish Pandey, according to the police spokesperson. Both are said to be close associates of Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni. A Lakhimpur police official said that the two were seated in one of the vehicles that mowed down farmers in Tikunia village on Sunday. The two are being interrogated by the police.
