New Delhi: American company Tesla has got approval to sell three more models in India and with this, the company has received approval for three more trims of its electric vehicles in India.
According to media reports, the Indian subsidiary of the US-based electric vehicle maker has received three additional homologation certificates as per the information shared by the centrally controlled Vahan Sewa. However, it is not yet clear which models have got the approval.
Notably, in August this year, the company had got approval certificates for four of its car models. However, the variants that received approval have not been specified.
Reportedly, Model 3s and Model Ys have been seen on India roads. However, the three vehicles which have got approval from the government haven't been named.
Though, a few Tesla test units have been regularly seen on the India roads in India but the company has set to make any serious moves toward local production.
Earlier, the Tesla woner, Elon Musk had said that Tesla factory in India might be possible if Tesla were to succeed with imported vehicles.
Tesla set up its Indian subsidiary in 2021, but did not specify a timeline for the launch or launch of the vehicles in the country.
However, according to some reports, Tesla has requested the Indian government to reduce the import duties by 40 percent while the government is pushing for domestic production of EV manufacturing.
