Dehradun: The incident of a theft that took place in a general store has left people in awe as the thief after stealing in the store left his Aadhaar card to get arrested later.

The thief, Neeraj, after collecting all he needs from the store that he has broken into, leaves behind a piece of evidence. It is this piece of evidence that worked as a prime proof against him and helped police to reach him without any problem.

The general store that Neeraj broke in Uttarakhand's Dehradun is owned by victim Anil Sethi. As stated by an investigating officer of the incident, "The incident happened last month in the shop owned by victim Anil Sethi. The accused had entered the shop after breaking open the tin-ceiling of the shop."

The accused, 27-year-old Dehradun resident, had done the theft in June only but got caught now as the investigation into the Aadhaar card left by him took this long to finally discover who the owner of the card is.

Not only is the Aadhaar card, but the accused can also be seen in the CCTV camera installed in the shop. But as police were unable to identify his face, the AAdhaar card did the needful.

The investigating officer further said, "Finally on Wednesday, police got a vital clue when Sethi decided to clean the ceiling of the shop. During that he found a wallet lying there with the Aadhaar card of Neeraj. Police immediately raided the address mentioned on it but found that he was not living there but on a different address."
