NEW DELHI: The
police in Delhi arrested three persons for allegedly shot dead a restaurant
owner in Greater Noida on Tuesday night after the restaurant delayed an order.
Police said that on Tuesday a delivery agent from Swiggy arrived in the restaurant to collect the order of chicken biriyani and poori sabzi.
When the Swiggy agent arrived on the spot, three other men were standing near the restaurant and was talking with the Swiggy agent asking about a job.
The police also informed that when the restaurant failed to deliver the order on time to the Swiggy agent, the trio got into an argument with the staff of the restaurant and allegedly shot the owner of the restaurant identified as Sunil Agarwal in the head.
Soon after the incident, a restaurant employee rushed Sunil to a hospital, where on duty doctors declared him brought dead.
"I was called (by the restaurant staff) to say their owner was shot. When I reached, he was still breathing. I first dialed 100 and then for an ambulance. But later, we took him to hospital in our vehicle," said Rakesh Nagar, who lives near the restaurant.
Swiggy said in a statement, "What has been reported is very concerning. We have reached out to the concerned authorities to help verify the identity of the individual involved in this heinous incident and if such person was associated with Swiggy."
Swiggy also informed that all its delivery partners are on-boarded for providing delivery services after a background verification which includes checking for any court cases or criminal antecedents.
Later police said that an encounter took place between the police and the three persons who were on a bike.
The police successfully arrested all three men, while one of them has been injured.
