Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Budget Goes Up By 43%, Pegged At Rs 4411 Cr

AMARAVATI: The Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, the richest Hindu temple in the world, is managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which approved its budgetary estimates of Rs 4,411 crore for the fiscal year 2023–24.

Since the TTD was founded in 1933, this is the highest budget estimate that has ever been authorized by a trust board.

Even though the state government certified the TTD trust board's budgetary predictions in February, they weren't officially made public until Wednesday.

According to TTD Chairman W. Subba Reddy, the model code of conduct associated with the MLC elections prevented the TTD from publicly disclosing the budgetary allocations in February.

The increase in the 2023–24 budget forecasts was attributed by Subba Reddy to the increase in Hundi receipts. The rise is over 43% greater than the previous financial year's budget expectations of Rs 3,096 crore.

The amount of interest on investment receipts has also increased significantly, and TTD expects to receive Rs 900 crore in interest revenues during the upcoming fiscal year.

"The temple trust chose to keep the online seva going without halting after their decision to introduce them during the COVID-19 outbreak brought in Rs 100 crore," he said.

TTD anticipates earning Rs 500 crore from prasadam sales, Rs 330 crore from darshan ticket sales, and Rs 140 crore from arjitha seva ticket sales. The hotel and kalyana mandapam revenue is expected to total Rs 129 crore, and TTD anticipates making Rs 126 crore from the sale of human hair.

TTD has set aside Rs. 1,532 crore for paying employees, Rs. 690 crore for purchasing materials, Rs. 600 crore for investments, Rs. 300 crore for engineering capital works, and Rs. 115 crore for grants to other institutions.

TTD has chosen to invest Rs 5 crore in the construction of new laddu counters at Tirumala for the convenience of the pilgrims. The temple trust has decided to set aside Rs. 4.7 crore to build new facilities at the new temple that is being built.
