Kolkata: A three-year-old toddler and a woman died after a building collapsed at Ahiritola Street in Kolkata Wednesday.

In Assam, a review meeting has been held on Thursday regarding flood damage and proposals as per SDRF norms in the conference hall of DC office, Bongaigaon in presence of Phani Bhusan Choudhury, MLA of Bongaigaon LAC, and Abdul Baten Khandakar, MLA of Abhayapuri North LAC. The meeting was presided over by Dr M S Lakshmi Priya, Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon. The meeting discussed about the proposals of schemes of Agriculture, Education, Fishery Development, Public Health Engineering, APDCL, PWD, Water Resource, Social Welfare and Veterinary department on flood damage management approved by the Circle Level Task Force.

Both the MLAs asked the departmental officers not to miss anybody who had been affected by the last flood. Many houses were damaged and many hectares of crop area were affected by flood while many fisheries were also submerged in flood. All should get compensation as per SDRF norms. The Deputy Commissioner asked that officers to submit proposals with utmost sincerity so that the proposals might be fruitful in the long term. At the beginning of the meeting, Pankaj Chamuah, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of District Disaster Management Authority, Bongaigaon gave a pen-picture of the flood damage this year. The Deputy Commissioner has been delegated the power of sanction of proposals of flood damage up to October 31, 2021of the departments, except PWD and Water Resource.
