UP doctor brutally murdered by a robber

Agra: A 38-year-old dentist, Dr Nisha Singhal, was murdered at her residence in Uttar Pradesh's Agra by a man who had gained access to the house on the pretext of recharging the set-top box.

The accused has been arrested and identified to be Shubham Pathak with the help of CCTV footage.

Dr Nisha Singhal was attacked with a knife and the accused had slit her throat.

He attacked her children too. They are eight and four years old- who was in another room. They survived but Singhal succumbed to her injuries.

Dr Singhal's husband, Ajay Singhal, is a surgeon and was on duty at the time of the attack. However, he rushed home after learning about the horrific incident and went to the hospital.

Police said that the accused was looking forward to robbing the house while pretending to be a technician in the Singhal residence. They have also recovered a bag full of cash and jewellery.

According to cops, the murderer remained inside the residence for over an hour after the murder of Dr Singhal and the attack on her children.

Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has expressed shock over the brutal incident.
