UP man shot dead at tea shop for blaming Tablighi Jamaat for coronavirus spread
Uttar Pradesh: A 29-year-old youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, has been shot dead by miscreants on Sunday after he blamed the participants of the last religious congregation (Tablighi Jammat) held at Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi last month of spreading novel coronavirus across the country. Police informed that the youth was shot by the miscreants at a tea shop, near his home, located at Kareli in the city. Police detained two persons in connection with the case, sources said. Meanwhile, Chief Yogi Adityanath ordered the police to invoke the National Security Act(NSA), 1981 against the accused and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the victim family. It is to be noted that various sections have alleged the participants of the Nizamuddin Dargah’s spread the highly infectious novel coronavirus across the country. The congregation was attended by around two thousand participants from various states of the country including Assam. Meanwhile, 25 participants of the religious congregation have tested coronavirus positive in Assam. As per a state government data, around 400 people from Assam took part in the congregation.
