Guwahati: Uttar Pradesh police busted an inter-state online sex racket after a raid at a house a Kanpur's Naubasta area, and rescued 9 girls, including one from Assam.

A senior police official informed media that the racket was being run across India and there was one girl each from Delhi, Faizabad, and Assam.

As per reports, the police are obtaining details so that their information can be shared with the authorities in other cities.

As many as eleven people including pimps and customers were arrested after the Uttar Pradesh police tracked down the gang as the cyber cell found a link posted on Twitter recently.

SSP Preetinder Singh said on Sunday evening that the gang had posted mobile phone numbers in the link to take calls from interested customers.

A plan was hatched by the police to nab the suspects. A decoy customer then contacted the number displayed on the link. The customer was then asked to come to a spot in the city, after which the team, led by Naubasta police officials, raided the place, leading to arrests.

A certain Ashish Kumar, a resident of Naubasta, was arrested during the raid. Based on inputs provided by him, police also arrested one Raju also known as Iran. They informed investigators that the girls hailing from outside the state are being supplied to customers by a broker named Kalpana Gupta.

Twenty-one mobile phones, two motorcycles, and two scooters were seized from the brokers and customers.

As per reports, a case has been registered at the Naubasta police station under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, and efforts are on to nab the others involved.
