NEW DELHI: According to a official announcement, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is considering taking legal and disciplinary action against two applicants for allegedly claiming selection in the civil services examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday.

Two days after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the final results for the civil services test, two people with the same name, Tushar Kumar, one from Rewari in Haryana and the other from Bhagalpur in Bihar, claimed the 44th position.

In the civil services test in 2022, Ayasha Makrani (from Madhya Pradesh) and Tushar (from Bihar) falsely said that they had been finally approved by the Commission in opposition to two roll numbers of truly recommended candidates, it was claimed.

On the other hand it has been discovered that Ms. Aysha Makrani, faked the documents in her favour in order to obtain her final recommendation from the UPSC. She took the preliminary examination, which was held on June 5, 2022, and received only 22.22 and 21.09 in the general studies papers. She had to receive at least 66 marks on Paper II in order to meet the requirements of the examination rules. Not only did she not pass Paper-II, but she also received significantly fewer points than the required score for Paper-I, which was 88.22 for the unreserved category in the Preliminary Examination for the year 2022. Aysha Makrani has so failed at the Preliminary Examination stage itself.

According to a report, “UPSC contemplates criminal, disciplinary penal action against two candidates for claiming selection in civil services exam.”

On the other hand, reports claimed that by doing so, Ayasha Makrani and Tushar had violated the terms of the Civil Services Examination Rules, 2022, as announced by the Indian government's (Department of Personnel and Training).

The UPSC is therefore considering taking both criminal and disciplinary penal action against the two candidates for their fraudulent conduct in accordance with the provisions of the Examination Rules, according to the statement.

In order to choose officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others, the UPSC conducts the civil services test every year in three stages: preliminary, main, and interview.
