UPSC To Hold Separate Exam For Indian Railways: IRMS 2023

NEW DELHI: The Indian Railway Management Service will be filled through a specifically created exam that will be administered by the UPSC beginning in 2023, according to the Ministry of Railways.

The Indian Railway Management Service Examination (IRMSE) will consist of two parts: an initial screening test, then a primary written exam and interview.

All qualified candidates must appear in the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination to be considered for selection to the IRMS (Main) written examination, according to a statement released by the ministry on Friday.

•Four papers of traditional essay questions organised into subject sets will make up the IRMS (Main) exam.

•First, there will be two qualifying exams worth 300 points each. Paper A will be an essay in one of the Indian languages of the candidate's choice, and Paper B will be in English.

•There would be two 250-mark papers on optional subjects. There will also be a 100-point personality assessment.

•Engineering in the civil and mechanical and electrical and business and accounting are the elective subjects.

•The aforementioned qualifying exams' and optional topics' syllabi will be identical to those for the Civil Services Exam (CSE).

•The common candidates for the CSE and IRMS (Main) exams can select one of the aforementioned optional subjects for each of these tests, or they can select distinct optional subjects.

•The qualifying exams and optional subjects will use the same language medium and scripts as the CSE (Main).

Minimum educational requirement:

Degree in engineering, commerce, or chartered accounting from a university established in India by an act of the central or state legislature, from another educational institution created by a law of parliament, or from an institution that the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, Section 3, declared to be deemed to be a university.

On the UPSC, there will be an indent for IRMSE (150 numbers), which will include the following numbers from the four options: Civil (30), Mechanical (30), Electrical (60), and Commerce and Accountancy.
