NEW DELHI: Kitty Kumaramangalam, the wife of late former Union Minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was dead at her home in Delhi on Tuesday. She was 67 years old and was allegedly murdered by three people who entered her home at Vasant Vihar in southwest Delhi in the evening.
The police said that dependent on preliminary investigation, it is thought that endeavored robbery was the intention behind the killing as there were opened briefcases at the location of the crime.
According to the police, a 24-year-old washerman of the area, recognised as Raju, has been kept by the police regarding the case while a search is on to capture the other two suspects.
Kitty Kumaramangalam's domestic assistance informed the police that the washerman had gone to the house around 8:30 PM on Tuesday night and when she opened the door, he overwhelmed her, dragged her to a room, and tied her.
The police said that later, two more people entered the home and covered her face with a cushion. The domestic assistance later figured out how to loosen herself and raised an alert.
Late former Union minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam was a Minister of State for Law, Justice and Company Affairs in the PV Narasimha Rao government from July 1991 to December 1993 and, furthermore, served as the Union Minister for Power in the Vajpayee government from 1998 to 2000.
The death of Kitty Kumaramangalam, who was the wife of P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was a sad incident. Hence, its proved that Delhi is not safe during the evenings also, as murders happen at any time.
