Florida: Who would have thought a few years back that humans could travel to space. It seemed far fetched to us but due to the advancement of technology, it has been made possible.

The concept of space tourism is gaining momentum in the recent times and travelling to space sounds like a perfect destination for the super-rich, who perhaps have had enough of travelling across planet Earth.

So, to fulfil those needs, Space balloon company Space Perspective has come up with a new idea. They are launching a new venture that sees the arrival of a floating luxury cabin.

This floating balloon will be unique as the passengers will actually be looking at some breath-taking views of planet Earth right from their window and it will definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Space perspective hopes to kick-start this journey from late 2024 and the balloon will take off from Kennedy Space Center, which is located in the US state of Florida.

The cost of each ticket will amount to a staggering $125,000 and more than 600 seats have already be booked.

The windows of the space capsule is 1.5-metre high and it will house luxurious seats with dark, purple tones and dim lighting - to make it feel like one is floating in space.

Apart from these, the luxurious capsule will also have Wi-fi connectivity and drinks at the hotel's very own "Space Lounge" inside the company's Neptune capsule, which boasts 360-degree views of space.

Notably, the balloon has the capacity to ascend to an altitude of 30 kilometres. However, it is much lower as compared to its competitors Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin, both reaching twice the height.

However, the company's co-founder, Jane Poynter told AFP: "We are above 99 per cent of Earth's atmosphere", giving passengers the best conditions to experience the darkness of space.

Meanwhile, passengers will not be required to undergo any prior training to board this mammoth balloon, which climbs at a slow 19km/h, so no harmful rocket fuel is needed.

In order to fill up the balloon, Space perspective aims to get hydrogen from renewable sources instead of extracting it from fossil fuels.
